As the third manifestation in the SILENT FORCE series, INDIVIDUATION highlights how an individual negotiates the age-old process of separating from its original core. The base of the limestone sculpture explores the moment when an individual’s focus shifts from internal to external considerations in his perpetual quest to discover an authentic self. The colour gradations in the stone, the subtle alterations to the surface’s texture, as well as the fluidity of the shapes, which both depart and return to the same physical point in space, all speak of an internal flux where balance is only found when it no longer requires a point of reference. The two interlocking yet independent shapes not only allow the necessary space for exploration to occur, but ultimately serve to retain its immutable essence.
