With FRAGILE STRENGTH, remarkably thin and smooth limestone walls define a shape which shifts and changes according to the viewer’s perspective. A free form heart seemingly tilts sideways to stress the fragility of the walls that enclose it, while the tear-like shape points to the moment the casing detaches from its core, never a part of it, nor ever quite independent from it. The ostensibly fragile external layer takes this new instalment in the SILENT FORCE Series to a new level of sophistication, thanks to a masterful execution. The delicate lip espouses and encloses the more substantial yet mutable shape in such an intimate movement that the two distinct pieces form but one, incapable of existing as whole without the other, one deriving inner strength from the fragile appearance of the other. To capture the notion of apparent fragility nurturing inner strength, the outer petal, seemingly peeling away from a bud it simultaneously reveals and protects, is stained black, highlighting the evanescent light inside its breathless space.
